Iberzets, a magazine dedicated to translations from Yiddish to Hebrew and English, is seeking your contributions!

We are looking for cultural essays, poetry, prose, fragments, selections from the press, and any other unusual or offbeat textual creations by Yiddish authors who are worthwhile knowing.

If you have a translation to share, we'd be thrilled to receive it! Please send submissions to: [email protected]

Submission Guidelines

The editorial team at Iberzetz welcomes a variety of submissions:

Original Translations from Yiddish to Hebrew/English:

Submissions can include translations of any genre or period. Please send the Hebrew translation in a Word document, accompanied by the Yiddish source text in a PDF file. The translation will undergo peer review by two readers. If accepted for publication, contributors will be asked to provide a brief introduction (around 300 words); documentation of permission to use the source material (if applicable) and a short biographical note about themselves.

Essays and Reflections:

Short essays (approximately 600 words) on topics such as Yiddish culture in Israel or abroad, the art of translation, book reviews, or cultural events. Essays will be reviewed internally by the Iberzetz editorial team. If accepted, contributors will also be asked to provide a short bio.

Historical Translations:

Translations from Yiddish to Hebrew/English or from Hebrew/English to Yiddish sourced from newspaper archives.

"Shpil" – Translation Games:

Translation exercises intended for language instruction; brief and experimental translations that may not adhere strictly to the original text but should spark discussions about translation practices and the challenges they invite.

We look forward to your submissions!
